The MF5550 is a GDI printer, processing its print jobs at the computer.
The front panel includes an LCD-based menu system and a numeric keypad for faxing. Its 19.1- by 18.1- inch footprint makes it small enough to fit on a desk, but the 20-inch height may be a little imposing. It provides a built-in fax modem, a 50-sheet ADF, and even a network option.
The MF5550''s output quality was excellent for text, with well over half of the fonts we test with easily readable at 4 points.
