As with all maintenance items, you just need to be consistent with how often you oil you machine came along with this shredder. When in doubt, oil more than less, don't overload your machine, and chances are it will serve you well for years.

Great product... for the money you can't get anything better... It just grinds through paper, paperclips, staples and cd's. I find it quite and reliable. Very powerful... no need to open junk mail or thick mail... just feed it in. Would and will buy again when I need to.
